What kind of wool/yarn do you use and what weight?
Thank you.
Can’t wait to get started!!!
I use Wool Ease Thick and Quick, but any bulky or super bulky yarn will work.
Thanks for posting the video! One question though. I finally got the casting down and I’m attempting to start knitting now but it seems to be too loose. After I have transferred all of the stitches to my left hand I’m left with some yarn slack. Any tips on how to tighten them? Thank you!
Hey there! Try watching my Arm Knitting 101 videos on my YouTube channel SimplyMaggieblog.
I like seeing your videos. Please keep posting. Thank you!
I’ve tried this method and have fell in love with it. The scarf at the very top, what kind of yarn is that and where can I get it from?
That’s great! If you’re referring to the green scarf it is Premier Yarns Couture Jazz Yarn. I bought mine at AC Moore but it is on Amazon.com as well.
How much yarn do you need? And how long do you make an infinity scarf so it wraps 2 times?
Hello. I buy 2 skeins and use about 3/4 of each one. The scarf length is all personal preference. Mine wraps around twice loosely.
Awsome. I couldn’t believe my eye. I just have to try this.
Hi,
Just watched your arm knitting videos and was surprise to hear your great dane’s name. I have a Remy too. Although she is a nine pound toy poodle.
I just heard about arm knitting today 1/27/2014 and came home and googled this. Oh what fun this looks like. Can’t wait to try. I will watch some more of the tutorials and take some notes and try.
When I am arm knitting I seem to be adding stitches so my scarf is uneven. What I am I doing wrong ?
Just going to try this. Great learning video. Thanks
Do you mind if I quote a few of your posts as long as I provide credit and sources back to your weblog?
My blog site is in the exact same area of interest as yours and my users would certainly benefit from a lot of the
information you present here. Please let me know if this ok with
you. Cheers!
Sure!
I have watched your tutorials multiple times and when I start knitting it is wayyyy to loose. I am using cheap crocheting yarn. It’s pretty thin and wiry. Maybe this is my problem? HELP! Thanks!
Definitely need chunky or bulky yarn for this project to create a fuller scarf or blanket.
just use 6 pieces of worsted yarn. thats what i’m doing! its working out just fine. to make it look really cool use all types of yarn.
Great video ! Just started arm knitting yesterday(made two scarves) and I’m so excited to make a blanket ! I’m use to crocheting a blanket for a week so this will be awesome ! I can definitely make a lot of gifts in time for the holidays ! Thanks for posting ! I do have one question, if I wanted it wider can I make two and weave them together ? Have you tried that ? Thanks again !
Can you use thin yarn???? I only have one ball of thick yarn left.
It doesn’t look the same. It may come out stringy.
I am trying to arm knit a blanket. I’m using a #6 super bulky Bernat Blanket yarn. When I am done casting on and start transferring the stitches to my other arm, the length of yarn between my two arms keeps getting longer and longer with every transfer. What am I doing wrong?
Try watching my Arm Knitting 101 video “how to tighten the first stitch” on youtube.
I made a scarf but it is very loose. My niece destroyed it by holding it because the links came undone or were pulled way loose. Anyway i can prevent this?
Keep the stitches as tight as you can when making it and if a stitch was pulled on after finishing it then just tug on each end of the scarf until all stitches go back to normal size.
This was so much help! Thanks.. 🙂
I have made a few scarves and have a question. Once I’m finished, I have noticed that the center of my scarf is longer than the edges and I try to keep my stitches as tight as I can but still it seems quite loose. Any ideas on how to make a more uniform shaped scarf and stitches?
I’m not sure what you mean by the center being longer. If you explain I can try to help.
I’ve arm knit before using #6 bulky yarn. Once done, it looks so holey and not as full as ones shown here. It falls apart and unravels easily. What’s the remady for that? I would like the weave to be tighter as shown above, but following the directions, it never turns out like that. Also, how many skeins total do you need? I know you need 3 to start, but you will have a small blanket with only 3 skeins.
Keep all of the stitches as tight as possible on your arm, use thicker yarn if desired.
Really excited to try some of these projects for gifts and for our home but am extremely allergic to wool and acrylic. Can anyone recommend any super bulky (soft ) yarns that don’t contain either and are pretty? Greatly appreciate any new all input asa Thanksssss
Has anyone run across non-wool super chunky yarn for arm knitting? I’m have trouble locating it online.
